May 18 update

Postby kyled » Mon May 18, 2015 10:01 pm

Brought support for allowing the game to run with firefox, but it's a little sluggish. Chrome runs much nicer.

Edited that ships can only quip certain guns.

Very minor help section that is a little buggy itself.

Made death match zone work so that if someone joins a team, it removes and AI from the that team, then replaces that AI player when the player leaves.

When I type the user Raygoe in on login, I think it triggers the user list when I get into the game.

I'd try all the specials and stuff but we're defaulted to a really small money amount. Maybe it'd be a good time to rework some of the game mechanics?

Thanks, I forgot about the "O" glitch since my login doesn't have an O

I think the only special I have right now is cloak at 5 credits, guns are same as before and missiles don't have the emp, disrupting or seeking function yet. But i hear what you mean about needing credits for testing.

When you were playing, did you have high ping spikes or time? Im noticing issues with the server from my connection and am wondering if the hosting network is messed, or something with my isp to the server host.

I noticed them, yeah. It jumped around a lot and my ping was consistently ~100 ms.

Noticed an issue where the ping spikes up, and it seems to mess up the game synch. I notice that it might take a while, then its persistent. I've been running offline testing and it usually fixes itself, guess I really need that better server (still waiting on stock for one)

Mean time, Im taking the engine and making it 3D will be bother 2D and 3D style zones, but even with things not fully set up, its fun flying down on the AI and hitting them from above. May have to make the weapons a little stronger though. (too hard to make so many hits)

You could do what EVE does and just put major vectors on your screen as they appear in 3d space. (Like a point that if you follow it leads to SB101). That would help people not get too lost :P

Ya, totally agree, just need to get a basic flight system in first. Busy with work for a couple weeks so hopefully something in the nearer future. Wanted to try some open alpha testing, but may hold off until I can get a new server, or perhaps a 3D zone.
